Makris by Domes

Located in Thisio, Makris by Domes occupies three floors in a neoclassical building and offers direct views of the Acropolis from its elegant rooftop terrace. Wow. There are no good or bad seats in the fine-dining restaurant. Because even in the basement, the view falls through the glass floor to the historical fragments and artifacts below. In the past, the first inn in Greece is said to have been located right here – the Inn of Eleusis.

The chef of Makris, Petros Dimas looks back on a long and varied career: among other things, he worked in Athens in Michelin-starred restaurants such as Varoulko, Hytra and Dalliance House before his culinary curiosity led him to London. There he joined the team of award-winning restaurateur Jason Atherton and worked as sous chef at Pollen Street Social, then at Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz.

It’s no wonder, then, that Makris’s menu lists mostly dishes whose unadulterated aromas and flavors are derived from ingredients from the immediate area and are thus of genuine Greek origin.

250 wines from Greek and international wineries were compiled by sommeliers Stathis Tsokos and Nikos Loukakis
