In a former 13th-century Capuchin monastery, the luxurious Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel opened in 2023 just a 15-minute walk from Amalfi town center. All 52 rooms and suites-many of them former monks’ quarters-were renovated and redesigned, preserving original tiles, vaulted ceilings, and limestone walls that still grace the rooms.
Other historic elements, such as the ornate cloister and 800-year-old Baroque church, were carefully blended into a melange of ascetic ambience and contemporary luxury. Fine fabrics, sculptural furniture and modern art characterize the atmosphere. Highlights among the accommodations include the Suite Del Priore, with frescoes above its four-poster bed and views of the cloister, and the Hermit Suite, with the privacy of its own lemon grove.
