There used to be a shopping center here, if you look closely you can still tell. Now there’s the hip boutique hotel Yalo – the name a joke with the exclamation “Yes Alloo” when people are surprised in Ghent.
It’s – but hello! – a super-correct name: 92 chic rooms with all the amenities modern nomads expect (rain shower, Chromecast, record player, Nespresso machine, etc.), plus a good restaurant under an impressive glass dome, a bar with fancy cocktails, and a super-cosy lobby.
The reward for the efforts: an award for Best New Hotel Design 2022.
The rooftop bar isn’t quite finished yet, but surely will be as great as the rest of the hotel
