Lapa is the name of Porto’s charming neighborhood, where the first Renaissance Hotel is nestled in the hilly area. Local architecture studio Visioarq Arquitectos and interior designers Broadway Malyan drew inspiration from Porto itself and designed the hotel as an “Art House in The Park”.
In keeping with the distinctive design concept of Renaissance houses, the hotel is harmoniously decorated in pastel pink and champagne gold. The champagne hue is echoed in the 163 stylish rooms and suites, among others. They are also furnished with neutral walnut furniture and chic designer pieces, and feature floor-to-ceiling windows that provide plenty of natural light.
An added touch of petrol blue wafts through the rooms in homage to the Douro River, which runs through Porto and Gaia. The hotel’s floors are designed with traditional Portuguese tiles like those used for centuries in local buildings and for sidewalks.
Original artwork by internationally renowned Portuguese artists adorns the walls, including a mosaic installation by Pedrita Studio and a painting by Isabel Mello, as well as a unique work of corrugated metal and neon tubes by Berlin-based artist Clemens Behr.
On the top hotel floor there is a 17 meter long outdoor heated infinity pool
