The history of the Neuen Werkstätten in Munich goes back to the year 1991. That was when six members of the famous Vereinigten Werkstätten für Kunst im Handwerk founded an interior design office and furniture store. They were located in a charming 50s villa in the Martinsried district with open fireplace, marble floors, dapper 50s atmosphere and adjacent upholstery studio, where their collection was manufactured.
In 2004, they moved into the heart of the city into a representative and generous showroom with high ceilings and large windows. The new location enabled new presentation possibilities, also regarding furniture formats and art exhibits. And the design team sits in the middle of the room, underlining the studio and craftsmanship character of the company. The 25th anniversary in 2016 was used to make the showroom appear even more generous and inviting by introducing a new lighting system and giving the room more depth.
The textiles department has become a central highlight since the renovation of the showroom.
