In this project, the interior designers of London-based Tara Bernerd & Partners honor Mexican heritage and enhance the original architecture of Maroma, whose white stucco buildings are inspired by the sacred geometry of Mayan masonry. To do so, they have selected local artisans who showcase the extraordinary range of Mexican art and design. Every piece of furniture and decoration was designed by Bernerd exclusively for Maroma.

Eighty percent of the furnishings and objects are handmade in Mexico – for example, by ceramist José Noé Suro, who produced more than 700,000 hand-painted clay tiles from Jalisco for the guest rooms. Henequen Textiles makes rugs from a hemp-like material extracted from certain species of agave.

Each of the 72 rooms, suites and villas is spread over the private beach area of Maroma
