A little Wes Anderson, a little Cuba – these are the ingredients for the design of Polina Sandström and Madeleine Klingspor, who together operate as ASKA Architects.

Banacado, in Stockholm’s lively Vasastan neighborhood, relies on a finely nuanced potpourri of pastel colors, with an emphasis on sunny yellow and warm peach tones. These not only provide a kind of sepia filter visually, but also transport the feelings back to times long past.

The vintage record player, a wall of Polaroid photos, and the gently curved shapes on the wall, shelves, and tables help to make time stand still, at least for an afternoon, as beautifully as they do effectively.
