None other than the British star architect David Chipperfield is responsible for the extension of the Zurich Kunsthaus on Heimplatz.

While his ashlar of Liesberg limestone looks very purist on the outside, Chipperfield has created a surprisingly warm atmosphere in the bar. The almost twelve-meter-long counter is made of Krastal marble, and the wall behind it, as well as the bar stools, are covered with dark green velvet, which shimmers magically in the daylight that falls through the high windows.

Custom-made light fixtures hang from the eleven-meter-high ceiling (no bar in the city is higher!). A very special eye-catcher is Max Ernst’s painting “In the Garden of the Nymph Ancolie,” originally created for the nearby dance bar of the Corso Theater – the largest in his oeuvre.

Every Thursday there is Art- Apéro: Champagne and art de luxe
