Opened in the 1980s, the pleasantly modernist Cretan Malia Park Hotel is part of the long tourist success story on Crete’s north coast. Now it has undergone an extensive renovation program led by architect Vana Pernari, whose design truly celebrates the place: lots of ceramics, wood and stone, greenery and sea blue copied from the surroundings.

Mouries, one of the three restaurants in this 204-room hotel complex, also upholds Cretan traditions. There’s plenty of fish and meat, prepared in an open-air kitchen, and lots of fruit, vegetables and herbs from the gardens of Cretan Malia Park – the most beautiful design in Cretan Malia Park has been created by Crete’s nature, with cacti, palm avenues, hibiscus bushes and, of course, olive trees.
