Mulberry & Prince

simple. elegant. shared. patinated.
Café Restaurant
Cape Town

The architect briefing simply aimed for a modern and white – partly café, partly restaurant. The end result goes far beyond that.

The shared cuisine trend was as much respected as the understatement of simple elegance. The ceramics collection of Studio Twocan inspired the choice of colors – such a subtle pink, charcoal for the bar, muted white walls and floors plus terracotte shades for the existing stone walls and the copper tables.

Cape Town’s artist Kurt Pio contributed pieces of art that can be purchased. The lighting was designed by Conrad Van der Westhuizen.

The front of the bar is worth a close look: Pieces of stone were arranged in a puzzle style. The seams were realized with the Japanese Kintsugi technique – a kind of ceramics repair using leaf gold.
