The Gelateria & Café Velocità is located on the city’s most important historic boulevard, the Calea Victoriei. To highlight both Italian flair and the former shine, a contemporary synthesis of Milan’s modernism and Art déco was developed.
Mobile elements on high-tech reels overcome the stern separation between customers and Baristas. Remainders of the original colors are close to the creamy shades of Tiramisu, vanilla ice cream and latte. The similar is true for the colorful stones of the new Terrazzo floor – here, orange stands for citrus fruit.
The almost clinical cleanliness is softened with rattan and bentwood furniture in Thonet associations as well with carefully placed spotlights.
For Bukarest’s endangered building heritage, the restoration of this Art-déco building is a sign of hope.
