Both the local agency Asylum and the Zarch Collaboratives delivered a subtle concept for the boutique hotel. It balances local architecture heritage with modern approaches.
Asylum chief designer Chris Lee recalled the original use of the building for that. It is one of the typical “Godowns” – the name stems from the Malay word “Gudang” for sales room –, that grew heavily during the Colonial spice trade in Singapore.
This can be felt in the subtle approaches of the decor and furniture that combine historic and modern moments as well as an industrial feel with warmth.
The River View Suite is located on the top floor of the building and offers a calming view onto the river.
