The Orea Brno, formerly Hotel Voroněž, is one of the largest congress hotels in the Czech Republic, whose construction was carried out in the Brutalist style during the communist era. Typical for its striking appearance is not least the characteristic interior design as well as the material concrete, which is characteristic for this school of architecture and which may or must also serve here as a connecting element of exterior and interior.
The architects of the ZOAA office were aware of the historical dimension and handled this building and the concrete material with the utmost care in the course of their complete renovation in recent years. Similar attention was paid to the comfort and the choice of natural shades that now provide a welcoming effect.
The “Diamond Chair” wire armchair designed by Harry Bertoia in the 1960s is now part of the furnishings – it can also be found in the collection of New York’s MoMA
