Prior to its renovation, the historic Märthof, which bears its name, was used as an Interdiscount department store. Now the building, built in 1897, houses a boutique hotel with 68 individual rooms. With a neo-baroque exterior, opulent décor and furnishings inside bring 1920s glamour to life. The rooms are spacious and, depending on the category, have luxurious extras like a free-standing bathtub. Located in the heart of the old town on Basel’s market square, just a two-minute walk from the Rhine, the location is ideal for a city break.
