Fancy textile wallpaper, warm sandstone floors and two cozy lounge areas are the first things that catch guests’ eyes when they enter the light-flooded lobby. Berlin interior designer Markus Hilzinger drew on the historical heritage of the 18th century building during the extensive renovation and created an extraordinary symbiosis of history and modern elegance.

The new aesthetic of the Taschenbergpalais is the impressive result of the craftsmanship of designers, artists and architects. For the design, Hilzinger drew inspiration from Dresden landmarks, creating a unique alliance of contemporary design and regal splendor. He has created an experience that does justice to the legacy of Augustus the Strong and his descendants as well as to Saxon history, while at the same time meeting the demands of a modern luxury hotel. Craftsmanship is evident in the use of the highest quality materials and the integration of custom-made furniture and fabrics.

The special lighting concept is based on the course of the Elbe and connects the “living room of Dresden” with the newly founded patisserie “Amalie”. With its design, the cozy alcoves and the delicacies created by the in-house patissier, the “Amalie” is a place to enjoy and linger all day long.

The newly designed 180 rooms and 31 suites also impress with their elegant design and offer an environment full of variety thanks to three different color schemes. Each of these is essentially determined by a historic main color – historic blue, sage green and sandstone beige. Each of the three designs is characterized by its own wall design, which significantly influences the mood of the room – be it structuring, invigorating, artistic or geometrically ordered.

Hand-picked furniture and selected works of art give each room a unique touch and create a cozy atmosphere. Historical elements were also incorporated into the color scheme and placed in the new context. The high ceilings of the former royal palace complete the royal flair and luxurious character.

The suites are furnished with fine works of art and contemporary national and international art treasures
