The Hoxton, Vienna is located in a modernist landmark and exudes a touch of Austrian mid-century flair. AIME Studios is responsible for the interior design, inspired by both Carl Appel’s mid-century aesthetic and the iconic Wiener Werkstätte movement. The architectural heritage of the marble-clad building from the 1950s served as an important starting point for the interior and has been carefully preserved.

The expansive, light-filled lobby is framed by the original travertine-clad walls and terrazzo floors and is furnished with ruby red sofas, 1950s-style armchairs, lush greenery and mid-century light fixtures. The dramatic staircase at the back of the lobby adds a touch of drama to the space that once housed the Austrian Gewerbehaus.

Throughout the hotel, local vintage furniture and custom rugs add eclectic coziness. Sterling Art curated artwork for the public areas and guest rooms: A bespoke large abstract botanical piece by Austrian artist Rini Spiel and an oil painting of the iconic Konzerthaus façade by local artist Rudolf Fitz draw the eye in the lobby.

The 196 rooms all reference early 20th century Austrian design – from the geometrically patterned curtains influenced by the iconic fabrics of the Wiener Werkstätte to the ruffled headboards in the unmistakable style of Adolf Loos and the bathrooms with plenty of mid-century references in the form of chrome fittings and ink-blue tiles.

The Bouvier restaurant serves French classics in NYC style, cocktails full of character and international natural wines
