After extensive renovation, the Capelongue in Bonnieux in the south of France celebrated its reopening in April 2024. 57 rooms and suites are arranged around a central square with a fountain, bookshop and café. The outdoor area features lush gardens, vegetable patches and a pool.

The architects at JAUNE pay tribute to local materials, colors and regional craftsmanship – but without any conservatism. The hinterland sets the tone in the rooms. It starts with the special light that falls softly into the interior through linen curtains – and continues with the silence. Nothing can be heard except the song of the cicadas.

The plastered walls, the tomette-style tiled floors, the natural tones, the warm wooden elements and, of course, the unobstructed view from the terraces and balconies. All these inspirations from the past are combined in this beautiful hotel with the aesthetics and comfort of today.

The same applies to the newly designed gardens by Atelier Lamarck. The vines, vegetable garden and fruit trees are reminiscent of the former agricultural use. Jasmine, tamarisk, rosemary, lavender bushes etc. create intimate areas where you can retreat and enjoy the greenery.

Every corner of Capelongue reflects the sensitivity and sense of the zeitgeist with which the renovation was carried out. The connection to the local heritage can be seen in the choice of wall decorations, readings, furniture and pieces by regional craftsmen.

Culinary delights are served in the gourmet star restaurant and the new restaurant with wood-fired oven
