The increasingly inflationary buzzword curatorship – curadoria in Portuguese – is shortened to the eponymous cura in the new restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon.

But architect Miguel Câncio Martins fills the term with substance here. The restaurant was conceived as an extension of the hotel’s art collection. To that end, it’s important to know: The Ritz resembles a bustling museum, assembling Art Deco, Louis XVI to modern art.

The new restaurant is correspondingly diverse: The walls are adorned with Madeira wood paneling and beveled mirrors; Bahia granite adds drama to the tables and bar, which resemble vines.

Swirling spirals of Picasso-inspired carpet, brass accents, black Kenyan marble all coexist at Cura.

Chef Pena Bastos, meanwhile, relies on the purity of the freshest local produce to create complex concoctions.

Portuguese organic wines are presented in a construction made of leather.
