The name of this hotel refers to the location of the five luxury lodges on stone cliffs on the edge of Portland’s Pennsylvania Castle Estate. A closer look reveals marine fossils, with the stone itself sourced from Portland’s local Albion mines.
The lodges are individually named – “Blue,” “Stone,” “Copper,” “Silva” and “Ope” – and tell of the sea, geology, wildlife and also the people who shaped Church Ope Cove. Oak-finished cabinetry and wall paneling, as well as kitchens, add warmth to the rugged aesthetic.
Outside the lodges, award-winning landscape architects Coe Design have recreated the flora of the surrounding cliffs
