The Krasnapolsky name comes from German-born and raised tailor, merchant and son of Polish parents Adolph Wilhelm Krasnapolsky, who developed the Amsterdam establishment, which started as a small coffee house in 1856, first as a restaurant and later into a hotel.

In 2023, the iconic building reopened as the Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam. The building’s turbulent past is reflected in the architecture and much of the luxury hotel’s interior design. Rooms and suites form a delightful symbiosis of modern elegance and Dutch heritage.

Earthy tones and fine, soft fabrics provide warmth and comfort. The furniture is inspired by mid-century design, while the materials are atmospherically set off by the light. Particularly opulent: the 70-square-meter presidential suite with two bedrooms offers space for the whole family or friends traveling together. The 150-square-meter Royal Suite is even more spacious, offering an impressive view of the royal palace.

Typical Anantara: Experiences created especially for the hotel can also be booked at this property, including a private tasting of bitterballen, local cheeses and stroopwafels in one of the city’s oldest bars
