After more than two decades of vacancy, one of the most fascinating hidden places in Milan’s fashion district has been reopened to the public. The renovation project of the former archbishop’s seminary on Corso Venezia was sponsored by the Ferragamo family’s Lungarno Collection and entrusted to architect Michele De Lucchi.
Under the name Portrait Milano, the ensemble has become a promenade with restaurants, bars, boutiques and, since autumn 2023, a wellness center. From the first to the fourth floor of the building, 73 rooms and suites have also been created – an oasis of privacy and tranquillity.
The timeless elegance of the rooms is typical of the signature style of architect Michele Bönan, who is responsible for the interior design of all the Lungarno Collection hotels. The classic style is reminiscent of the traditional furnishings of Milanese residences, but has been enriched with contemporary details inspired by Tuscan craftsmanship.
These include leather handles and Florentine rattan boiseries – a tribute to the history of the Ferragamo family.
The magnificent baroque arch in front of the door was designed by the Milanese master builder Francesco Maria Richini
