Cultural Site
Bozen

Bozen’s likely most outstanding architecture spectacle is not located in the city’s obstructed city but on the 2,275 meter high Kronplatz mountain.

Here, the Messner Mountain Museum was opened. It is the last of overall six museums that South Tyrol’s mountaineer legend Reinhold Messner dedicated to the theme alpinism and mountain worlds.

It was created by Zaha Hadid Architects with the familiar flowing shapes, whereas the concrete building material was given an underlined open geometry.

The architecture allows 240° panoramic views thanks to its large windows.

Large parts of the museum were arranged differently. A fine move: The constructional traces of the landscape are minimized; at the same time this serves to regulate the climate high up in the Alps.
