The Mirlo, in a mansion built in 1918, has long been a literary place of pilgrimage: crucial passages in Carlos Ruiz Zafón’s novel “The Shadow of the Wind,” the best-selling work of Spanish literature after “Don Quixote,” are set here.
Now the long vacant building, which in the 1990s was home to the Ogilvy advertising agency where Carlos Ruiz Zafón was employed, has been converted into a luxurious boutique hotel with 16 rooms. Each one has its own hamam, and the suites also have a sauna. The beautiful historical details of the villa have been preserved – the rooms have large windows overlooking the beautiful garden with pool, and the hotel restaurant offers excellent dining.
