On the tip of the island Java, with a panoramic view over the IJ, the Hotel Jakarta, designed by architectural studio SeARCH, is located, a symbol for Amsterdam’s historic sea connection to Asia and on exactly the quay on which Indonesian immigrants set foot on Dutch ground after their long travels until the middle of the 20th Century. The more than 200 rooms welcome guests with a design mix of wood and far-eastern details.  The balconies can be fully closed with glass to conserve warmth and keep noise out. Relaxing quiet is also radiated by the atrium. In collaboration with the Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam, a lush sub-tropical garden was created and invites to take a deep breath.

The 30 meter high wooden structure in interior and energy saving measures – such as warm water Suppe via solar panels – make the hotel a show-off project
