Those who remember the house on Berlin’s Kannstraße 79 as a courthouse, as the state office for chemistry or as the land registry office for the districts Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf will be surprised to see its new look. After years of vacancy, the building was turned into the showroom of the Vancouver based design company Bocci. Lamps from current and past collections prototypes and new ideas of Bocci founder and creative director Omer Arbel are presented on a floor space of 2,200 square meters. With its huge light installations spanning across entire rooms and hallways, Bocci 79 evokes associations of an art gallery rather than a lamp store. Of course, the glass ball lamps which made Bocci famous are on display. So are light sculptures in the shape of trees, branches or corals. The installations on the six floor high atrium and in the open staircase are especially impressive.

Bocci 79 is more than a showroom. The atelier will become a space in which glas and porcelain are designed and produced.
