Athen’s conservatory with its iconic Bauhaus architecture is considered a key work by architect Ioannis Despotopoulos. Even the Aris Garoufalis concert has been an essential part of Athen’s conservatory for 40 years, it had not been finished according to Despotopoulos’ plans for many years.

What a missed opportunity! That was proven by original plans that were found in the archive of the architect and that prove a brilliant synthesis of acoustic planks. The much needed renovation was headed by atelier 66 and a network of other creatives and concluded in 2017.

An acoustically perfect interior for sound damping was created with wall panels made of tinted and varnished ply wood
