A rewarding excursion: In Žilina, an hour and a half away from Bratislava, an architectural treasure awaits travelers. The New Synagoge, built by Peter Behrens, one of the leading representatives of modernist architecture, in the late 20s, was completely renovated under the commission of an NGO and received a new purpose. After the restoration by the architects of PLURAL, the New Synagoge is used as an art and exhibition hall.
The New Synagoge was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2019, the European Union’s Prize for contemporary architecture
