Bar
Stockholm

The briefing for the design of the Bar Hilma in the Generator Stockholm was: to create a courageous and unique connection of bar and restaurant that surpasses guest expectations and motivates to return.

Nadia Tolstoy, interior designer at studio Tengbom was inspired by a 19th Century Swedish painter: Hilma af Klint is considered as one of the earliest forerunner of the abstract and coined this art direction years before Kandinsky or Mondrian.

The specific approach probably can be best summarized as “Hilma 2.0”: It is all about the revival and transformation of the artist into the present – via a tattooed Hilma riding a motorcycle. The spirit of freedom and phantasy is omnipresent. Provocative elements such as cages, whips and of course graffiti adds to that.
