Huge changes were not considered during the restoration of this boutique hotel. Because of the historic meaning of the building as well as the surrounding Alfama historic district, the Portuguese construction and culture board did not leave much room for experiments. The result: A hotel in which right angles are the exception and in which each room had to be restored individually. A charmer!

History wherever you look: Christopher Kolumbus was married in the church next door. Under a glass on the second floor the details of a Roman steps can be seen. In the 15th Century, the hotel was a palace.
