Cologne’s 35-metre-high, 140-year-old water tower has been home to a new hotel since December 2021. The landmarked building alone gives the hotel a unique character, which can be felt as soon as you enter the impressive, eleven-meter-high lobby.

The internationally award-winning London design studio Goddard Littlefair was responsible for the interior design. The designers’ aim was to continue the historical architecture of the building in the design language and to combine contemporary elegance and state-of-the-art furnishings with geometric patterns and artistic staging.

Around half of the 88 rooms are suites. A special feature are the four individually designed signature suites, which are dedicated to different themes (e.g. the history of the water tower, Cologne Cathedral) or the works of specific artists, including British engineer John Moore and pop artist Sascha Dahl.

There is no classic hotel restaurant in the Wasserturm Cologne; there are plenty of dining options in the surrounding area. However, the rooftop location Bar Botanik at a height of 35 meters is definitely worth a visit
