Café Restaurant
San Francisco

Just as his famous brother Marcel Duchamp, Jacques Villon was a French painter.  He was known for his graphics works that often made him considered as part of Cubism.

What does that have to do with the restaurant? A lot: His last name was used and the interior is marked by geometric elements. The black ceiling shows rectangular 3D shapes, columns show straight lines, chairs have triangular backrests.

Interior designer Kelly Wearstler was further inspired by French architect Pierre Chareau as well as the Wiener Werkstätte. Despite its inspirations from the past, the yellow-turquoise-black room radiates a modern flair.

The bar is fitted with ceiling high shelves that are filled with lots of bottles. How to reach the ones on top? With the library ladder on wheels.
