At the heart of the Vienna Museum, recently reopened after extensive renovations by the Austrian architects Certov, Winkler + Ruck, lies the restaurant and café-bar trude & töchter. Certov, Winkler + Ruck’s fundamental design strategy draws inspiration from the original architecture of the Vienna Museum by Oswald Haerdtl, but translates it into the present day. With this in mind, the owners aimed to create an uncomplicated place to linger, and they have succeeded.

trude & töchter is named after the Jewish photographer Trude Fleischmann, who profoundly influenced the traditionally male-dominated field of photography after the First World War and whose work is represented by a substantial collection in the Vienna Museum. Trude refers to the restaurant on the ground floor, while & töchter is a café-bar on the terrace level. Since December 2023, guests have been able to enjoy Viennese classics with a modern twist both indoors and on the spacious terrace. The interior design is minimalist and harmoniously incorporates natural materials.

The terrace of the café-bar & daughters of the Vienna Museum offers a previously unheard-of view over the Resselpark with a view of the Karlskirche.
