The Qvest

Grand. Sacral. Venerable. Modernized.
Hotel
Cologne

Standing under the high ceilings with its arches and vaults makes you feel like you are in a church. But Cologne’s Hotel Qvest, with its neo-Gothic architecture, used to be the city’s historic archive. After two years of renovation, you can now find Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona chairs in the six meter high lobby. The 34 rooms and suites were furnished according to the room set-up. Further design classics from Arne Jacobsen to Ray und Charles Eames can be found in the rooms. The 140 square meter large suite is the highlight of the hotel. It offers a view onto the Gereons church and a hand-painted wooden ceiling dated 1390. The bathrooms show a lot of attention to details: like black tiles like the ones in the Paris Metro or leather-framed mirrors.

The rooms are appointed with art and design books – but lack a TV. Those requiring moving pictures can either use their lap top or check out a TV at the reception. The Qvest Hotel is member of Design Hotels™ and can be booked here: www.designhotels.com.
