The architects at AvroKO call their concept for revitalizing a building constructed in this architectural style “warm brutalism.” Brutal, but gentle: in 2024, this means lots of glass, the subtle use of concrete and wood, round shapes, and a look based on a warm color palette. The spiral staircase railing, on the other hand, is a declaration of love to architect John Portman, whose radical signature style once helped shape San Francisco.

The heart of the hotel is the third floor. Here, with a bar, lounge, and restaurant, you’ll find all the essential social spaces, designed to serve as an extended living room. The largest suite in the hotel is a dream come true in beige, with a spacious living room, two bathrooms, a master bedroom, and a workspace.

Book a room with a balcony to enjoy the impressive view of San Francisco in complete privacy.
