The Independente

Small warning: this is actually a hostel. But a very innovative one with a mix of shared rooms but also suites, making the Independente attractive for sophisticated travellers. Some offer a great view over the river Tejo. The interior combines old and new: traditional stucco elements and contemporary laminated wood for example. The vibrant color design of the textiles, carpets and tiles create a lively atmosphere.

During the early 20th century, the building was the residence of the Swiss ambassador.
