The streets of Harmonica Yokochi are a special part of Tokyo’s suburb Kichijoji. A very special atmosphere reminding of the black markets of the post WW2 era has been preserved here.

The Tetchan Yakitori Bar works with the aesthetic topic of absence economy and was mainly equipped with recycling materials. The LAN cables used for that are of course contemporary: the term Mojamoja refers to the woolen, torn up look of acrylic balls, a waste product that was used here. Interior designer Kengo Kuma used this approach consistently up to the design of the furniture.

His idea: Shape dissolves in material and color and literally seems to float.

The large mural with Manga punk motifs across from the bar was made by Teruhiko Yumura.
