The Storchen certainly is one of the most historic and oldest hotels in Zurich. In the city archives, the hotel that is directly located at the Limmat and that has its own boat pier is first mentioned in 1357 and since 1460 explicitly mentioned as a lodge. Even today the charm of past times can be felt everywhere in the five star hotel. At the same time, the interior follows a modern and international design concept and with it provides an exciting contrast.
The hand painted wallpapers that feature stork, weeping willow and wisteria – typical for the nature along the Zürichsee – are special design elements. Rugs with abstract patterns that resemble the footprint of a stork as well as marble floors with embedded mosaics resembling an interpretation of stork plumage were also custom made.
