What happens when you move a family-run Italian top restaurant to China’s leading contemporary museum? The answer from design studio Linehouse: a tribute to the New Wave art movement, where Chinese and Western elements collide.
Contrasts between soft and hard, rough and smooth, solid and transparent characterize the design of the in-house restaurant New Wave by Da Vittorio at the UCCA Edge Museum. Rhythmically dimensioned arches serve as a prototypical element, while curved mirrors create the illusion of an endless journey.
To enter the restaurant, guests pass through a narrow passageway that leads from the public museum space to a more intimate dining area.
