Without a doubt, the Louvre Abu Dhabi museum of superlatives: Located on an artificial archipel, surrounded by the ocean’s waves, a giant dome spans across 55 independent exhibition buildings and galleries.

Seemingly weightless, the impressive steel dome floats over the architectural ensemble and creates spectacular light effects in the museum’s interior. The light bundles, called rain of light, arise from the geometric pattern of the roof construction, which provide 7,850 entry points for the sun. As a visitor one feels like in an oasis under a giant starry sky.

The programmatic approach off the Louvre Abu Dhabi is that of a universal museum. The curators tell the history of mankind and highlight the emergence of civilization across cultural and national borders.
