The modern health resort in the north of the island was built on the area of a former officer’s residence. Düsseldorf architect studio Ingenhoven used the existing building with thatched roof as a model for the newly built houses that also have thatched roofs. With a total of 7,100 square meters, the building ensemble is the largest thatched roof in Europe.

In line with the philosophy of the Lanserhof Resorts, there is also the idea of a health promoting architecture that focuses on a lot of wood and  harmoniously designed rooms with natural colors. Only selected building materials that have been approved regarding ecology and health are used.

The chosen textiles and furniture with their reduced color scheme and clear shapes complement the minimalist interior and underline the calm, monasterial atmosphere in the rooms. A generous, rounded lounge piece, designed by Ingenhoven and manufactured by the Bielefelder Werkstätten, is especially striking. Similarly striking: The silky looking handmade rugs made of sustainable yarns by the brand Jab Anstoetz.
