Traditional Japanese culture meets Nordic style here – and that not only on the plates. Commonalities of both regions are found quickly: subtle materials and love for wood, craftsmanship and purism.

In the case of this creative melting pot, the geometric oak paneling on the walls reming of the perfectionism of Japanese interior design. However, these panels were created with exactly the steam technology that wrote design history in Scandinavia.

The result is a minimalist, three dimensional look that plays with shadows. There are also  typical sliding doors with a subtle grid structure – one almost expects a Geisha to enter the room at any time. But it probably is the cook.

The Izumi is one of the sushi restaurants with the highest reviews in the foodie Mekka Copenhagen.
