Omakase – literally: “I leave it to you” – refers to an ancient tradition of Japanese hospitality and is now a global trend. The chef always decides what to serve his guests and what kind of surprise menu to create using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
This is exactly what Jiabi Li does at his new hotspot in Palo Alto. The 18-course menu focuses on Edomae sushi, but Wagyū beef and miso soup are also featured.
Dark colors and traditional Japanese design elements characterize the interior of this small, fine restaurant. Incidentally, the large dining table, where guests dine on bar stools, is made of Bay Area redwood.
The drinks menu includes, among other things, an exceptional sake menu.
