Nestled in the vibrant heart of Paris’s 9th arrondissement, the Hotel Faubourg Galant Paris – Handwritten Collection presents itself not merely as a place to stay but as a carefully composed chapter of Parisian design, architecture and refined hospitality. Set in the lively Faubourg Montmartre quarter, the building pays homage to the neighbourhood’s layered past while offering 63 plush yet elegant rooms that articulate a new kind of boutique calm.
The architecture and interiors were conceived by the design firm Girós & Coutellier, who draw inspiration from the 18-century silk boutique “Traits Galants” that once occupied the site and the nearby legacy of Jean-Baptiste Buffault’s enterprise. This historic reference manifests in subtle flourishes: soft palettes of colour, a luminous conservatory, and bathrooms framed in refined black and white tile.
In the public spaces, an airy glass-roofed coworking lounge frames the light of the day, transforming seamlessly into a softly lit bar by evening — a nod to the neighbourhood’s theatrical past and its boulevards of cafés and theatres.
The choice of materials is deliberate and tactile: velvet seating, warm woods, polished foyers, in which one senses a narrative of everyday elegance rather than ostentation. Rooms, from 15 to 30 m², avoid the overly ornate. They offer calm sophistication — deep beds, rain-showers, French toiletries by Typology, and occasionally a balcony with a view of Paris rooftops.
What stands out is the layering of detail: the scaled moulding, the quiet texture of upholstery, the interplay between colour and natural light. The design speaks quietly — as if the city outside has paused to listen. The hotel’s identity is anchored by one unexpected element: olive oil. It may seem unlikely in Paris, yet it weaves through the concept as a thematic thread — from the “olive-oil bar” to subtle notes in the communal areas, linking Provence’s sunlit groves with Parisian style.
Faubourg Galant invites you into a considered space where interiors provide retreat.
