The boutique hotel throroughly radiates the spirit of Lucca’s long history. In the basement of the building you can even find old Roman wall foundations and remainders of an antique glassblower fountain. In the 16th Century, a grand Palazzo was built at this place that was inhabited by the Paoli family in the Renaissance before it was turned into a hotel in 1857.
For the opening of the Grand Universe Lucca in January 2021, the Palazzo was thoroughly renovated again. For that, the design charmingly cites traditions: silk textiles in grape red, fir green and Tuscan sun yellow stand for the colorful silk production that made Lucca famous all over Europe in medieval times. Elegant glass lights remind of the century long glassblower tradition.
