After a long renovation phase, the hotel opened in April 2023 in an 18th-century building in the Vesterbro district under the name Grand Joanne.
It is named after Johanne Sophie Frederikke von Bothmer, a strong woman from the 18th century who now inspires the design, which presents Johanne Sophie as a colorful woman.
A feminine touch runs through the design—soft fabrics, lots of wood, handmade furniture, and Nordic furnishings complete the look. A particular eye-catcher is the floor in the lobby area: an inlay of pink marble and oak wood.
The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to watch the hustle and bustle on Copenhagen’s streets.
