The aesthetic combination of present and past is part of the brand identity of the design duo Faltenbacher & Smola. For the Friedrich Weinbar in Düsseldorf’s historic center, they combine a vintage atmosphere of wine making with visual codes of a young urban audience.
The facetted lamps remind of artsy wine glasses, the wooden chairs are a visual homage to wine barrels. The green pillows of the stretched bank can be interpreted as a hint to the lush green of vineyards, while the pillows are a slim, modern interpretation of typical mid-century upholstery.
The large shelf on the walls of the bar is worth seeing: a custom made construction of oxidized steel that highlights the bottles thanks to a backlighting concept
