The Cugó Gran Macina Grand Harbour brings Malta’s history to live in a wonderful contemporary architecture and design concept. At the old harbor of Senglea, a fortress dating back to 1554 was redesigned into a luxurious hotel featuring 21 spacious and elegant suites.

As much as possible was to be preserved of the former stronghold. Part of that are the meter-thick limestone walls that have been relaxed by skilled glass constructions. That way it can happen that one has to walk down three and a half meter corridor in order to reach a window.

The suites convince with a straight-forward, almost Scandinavian aesthetic; custom-made Italian sofas and beds radiate elegance and comfort. This is paired with premium materials such as Carrara marble or Maltese lava stone. Surely, the old bastion was not as feudal!

The Cugó’s restaurant manages the art of serving an authentic yet unique Maltese cuisine.
