The high up located hotel is the ideal location to explore the region around Manteigas in the middle of the Serra da Estrela: More than 250 kilometers of marked hiking and mountain biking paths lead to dramatic peaks, romantic valleys and historic mountain villages. In the evening, the spa awaits guests seeking relaxation with an interior and outdoor pool, sauna, Turkish Bath as well as massages and treatments.
The building from the 1940s was expanded with a new concrete construction that opens up to the south of the valley in 2018. The modern new house stunningly enriches the old house made of granite and slate and is harmoniously integrated into the mountain surroundings.
The interior also refers to the history of the building. The original furniture pieces that were carefully refurbished by Maria Keil are especially remarkable. On top of that, colors and materials such as the generous use of Burel, the traditional woolen fabric of the region, give the guest rooms a local color.
