Caffè Stern in the picturesque Passage des Panoramas in the 2nd Arrondissement evokes associations of a Tim Burton film scenery: a magic, surreal world. You are greated by a stuffed wolf and linx with glittery deco. Winged white rabbits sit on the fire place and seemingly thrown white sheets act as lamp shades. Young Parisian entrepreneur David Lanher and the Alajmo brothers (one of them is Italian Michelin-starred chef Massimiliano Alajmo) assigned architect Domique Averland and designer Philippe Starck to restore and design the historic, landmarked rooms.
The rooms used to be the workshop and retail space of engraver Stern. His name is still on the door.
