More than a hundred years old and not a bit gray: The Sir Francis Drake opened in 1928. Since 2022, following extensive renovation and remodeling work, this iconic hotel has been shining in new splendor and under a new name.
Architect Kraig Kalashian and his studio KKAD paid particular attention to the original Neo-Renaissance aesthetic of the building during the renovation, reviving details that had fallen into the background. The focal point of this careful metamorphosis is the imposing lobby, which connects old San Francisco with the modern cityscape.
And: Guests should feel like they are in a luxurious second home. This intention is also underlined by the hotel’s focus on art and the curatorial work of Kevin Barry, who has furnished all rooms and public areas with a keen sense for the right art.
Local artists are featured alongside internationally established ones. The custom-made wallpaper in the rooms pays homage to San Francisco’s history with subtle elements.
The best whiskeys in the world are gathered in the hidden bar Hidden Library. The bar is located in the basement of the famous hotel. The bar is located in the basement of the famous hotel.
